Niacin No-Flush is inositol hexanicotinate, an ester of the B-vitamin niacin. Regular niacin can cause unpleasant side effects such as itchy, burning skin - the niacin flush. Inositol hexanicotinate has not been associated with the niacin flush. Niacin is a factor in the maintenance of good health, and normal growth and development.

Niacin is an essential nutrient, also known as vitamin B3.  It is found in foods such as legumes, nuts, eggs, meat and dairy products, as well as a variety of fruits and vegetables such as mushrooms, avocados, dates and nuts.  Niacin is water-soluble and is not stored in the body, meaning that it is important to ensure that adequate amounts are consumed through the diet and supplements.
Niacin helps with the proper functioning of the nerves, skin and digestive system.  It is an important factor in the metabolism of foods into energy; and is a precursor of the coenzymes NAD and NADP, which are required in many essential biological pathways including cellular energy production and DNA repair.  Deficiency of niacin can lead to a condition known as pellagra, which is characterized by digestive problems, cognitive impairment and skin inflammation.
While niacin’s effects are beneficial, it often causes an uncomfortable symptom known as the “niacin flush”. It does this by causing blood vessels to expand and release molecules that cause the skin to warm and itch. Niacinamide, a common type of sustained release niacin, does not cause this flushing effect, but comes with the even worse side effect of potential liver damage.
