NOW Cap.M.Quik Size "00&000" Tamper

This brand "Cap M.Quick" sells its capsule making machine components separately. Though it took me some time to find the Tamper, I must say it served me well in packing down the powder well inside the cap and fill more –TWICE. I fill "00" capsules, so this tamper was crucial in filling up the cap –to the brim..

The machine is well made, the caps fit into the slots, the tamper fits into the caps. The plastic is sturdy and does not chip.

I'm using this with powders with uniform consistency.

On the one hand, the tamper makes things go faster than doing all the tamping one capsule at at a time. On the other hand, once some of the capsules are filled with tamped down powder, they prevent less full capsules from being tamped any further. The result is 50 capsules that all look full, even though some or many of them might have much less powder than others.

As far as I can see, this issue is inherent in any device that tries to tamp down multiple capsules at once. The only solution if you need really consistent amounts per capsule is to use the tamper in conjunction with a single capsule tamper. That's still a lot faster than making one capsule at a time.

I'd have given this three stars, but it got an extra star for two reasons. One is durability. This thing is going to last for a really long time. The entire setup is sturdy and well designed. Second is thanks to the excellent customer service I got when I contacted the company that makes the Cap.M.Quik capsule device and this tamper to go with it. They were quick with their responses and suggestions.

Be aware of its limitations, but I do recommend the Cap.M.Quik Tamper.
