  • Relieves digestive upsets, indigestion and colic
  • Helps with bronchitis, coughs and colds

Put a stop to feeling queasy. Ginger relieves nausea and vomiting associated with motion or seasickness. It’s even favoured among herbalists as a digestive aid as it soothes digestive spasms and colicky tummies, and helps settle indigestion. As if this weren’t enough, ginger has long been used to help relieve coughs and colds. This multi-purpose root has been used in cooking and healing since the dawn of time. Don’t be without it.

Ginger – Not Just For Cooking

Ginger has a long history. It was introduced in Europe in the first century and ever since, has been gracing special occasions all over the world.  But ginger does more than add zest to your cooking!  For thousands of years, it has been used for its profound medicinal benefits. Ginger is revered as a digestive aid to relieve indigestion and diarrhea, as well as nausea and vomiting caused by motion sickness.  It is a perennial plant that gives us that charracteristic knobby root (rhizome) where the medicinal components reside.

Ginger is Anti-Inflammatory

Science has shown that gingerol, the main active constituent that gives ginger its spicy taste, acts by helping to relax the muscles of the digestive system to relieve gas and bloating, and soothe the spasms that can cause stomach discomfort. Gingerol has also been found to have anti-inflammatory effects.  In a number of studies comparing ginger to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen, scientists found that ginger has the same effect as NSAIDs in blocking inflammatory molecules and easing joint aches and pain.

Ginger for Colds and Flu

The dark days of winter combined with the stress of cold weather, dry air and seasonal travel can make winter-time the peak season for colds and flu.  Ginger has been shown in a number of animal studies to boost various immune responses and guard against infections because of its potent antimicrobial properties.  And, if you already happen to be sick, ginger may be your go-to remedy for relieving a sore throat and nagging cough. It’s been used in traditional herbal medicine to handle even the toughest bronchitis symptoms.

Ginger is Good for Your Heart

Ginger may even be good for your entire cardiovascular system.  It has well-established antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which can help to protect blood vessel linings.  Preliminary studies have shown that ginger may also reduce the “stickiness” of blood platelets and the ability of cholesterol to block arteries.  It may therefore play a role in reducing the overall risk of heart disease.

Safe for kids age 6 and older, the therapeutic value of ginger is second to none.

Orange Naturals Tincture Advantages

All Orange Naturals tinctures are made from organic or wild-crafted herbs.  During our craft of tincture-making, our master herbalists ensure the magic of every herb is unleashed and each bottle bursts with the healing power of nature.  Our naturopaths recommend herbal tinctures because they are metabolized quickly – rapid oral absorption allows the body to begin restoring health on every level. The body can absorb up to 98% of a tincture’s medicinal components because absorption takes place immediately in the mouth. In contrast, herbs taken in capsule or tablet form must first be broken down by the digestive system and thus absorption can be significantly lower and slower. With Orange Naturals herbal tinctures, you have found a medicinal version of liquid gold.

Adults 18 and over: take 2 ml of Orange Naturals Ginger, 3 times per day. For anti-nausea use, take 2 ml of Orange Naturals Ginger, 30 minutes before travel and, optionally, every 4 hours as necessary.

For best absorption, squirt the tincture under your tongue and hold it there for a few seconds, then swallow. If you want to remove the alcohol, add the dosage to a half cup of boiled water. The alcohol will evaporate off. Let it cool, and add honey or a splash of juice to make a yummy, tummy-soothing drink!

For best results, take ginger on an empty stomach, which means about 15 minutes before a meal or snack, or at least 1 hour after.
