Petadolex is the specific butterbur extract used in the migraine prevention research — a 36:1 rhizome extract standardised to deliver 11.25mg of petasin and isopetasin per capsule, equivalent to 2.7g of butterbur root.

The extract is free of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which occur naturally in butterbur and are hepatotoxic — unpurified butterbur is genuinely dangerous.
