Why Fish Oil is More Effective than Flaxseed Oil?
Both contain Omega 3 fatty acids but only fish oils contain EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid). DHA is the active component that nourishes the brain and EPA nourishes the heart. Unfortunately, the body will convert only a very small amount of flaxseed oil into DHA and EPA – this according to a study conducted by a team of researchers from Canada, Britain, and USA (Lipids, Vol. 35, January 2000 pp. 105 to 111).
